Lush Special Edition of Weller Classic It's easy to see why with tracks like lead off single "The Changingman", "Out of the Sinking", "I Walk on Guided Splinters" and the soul classic "You Do Something To Me". "Stanley Road" remains Weller's biggest selling record to date. On top of the original album there are all the singles B-sides including Beatles cover "Sexy Sadie" which had it appeared on last years cover album "Studio 150" it would have been the album's best song. Weller was never one to slack when it came to his B-Sides which here is obvious. "It's A New Day Baby" and "A year Later" are acoustic tracks which would have sounded at home on his best album "Wild Wood". There is also a second disc filed with alternate takes and demos from the "Stanley Road" sessions, all of which make compelling listening.
The DVD is a welcome addition to the package. The half hour documentary is an entertaining overview of the recording sessions with new interviews from Weller and members of his band at the time. Noel Gallagher also turns up, as ever providing good value for money. Through in a new booklet and it rounds off an impressive package of what was one of Britpop's defining albums.
