Still crazy after all these years However, it's such a timeless record that its age doesn't even seem to matter. It's hard to believe this one is more than a decade old now. The 1990s saw the burgeoning "No Depression" sound grow into a full-fledged subgenre, but it's unclear whether these artists shared anything more than a common set of influences. Whether or not Ryan Adams and crew ever listened to Uncle Tupelo's first album (the origin of the "No Depression" term), what they created here ranks with that material as raw, honest Americana rock n roll. I still think this material and the two follow-up efforts top the majority of Adams's solo work in terms of songwriting and overall approach. Whereas some of Adams's more confessional-sounding solo material seems a little forced to me, the songs on this album flow naturally and legitimately strike a chord. Rather than doing any sort of song-by-song dissection (they're all great) I am going to urge anyone who stumbles on this review to go track down this lost classic.
best Whiskeytown album
its raw enough to highlight their unique sound and Adams' songwriting, but cleaned up enough (as described above) to sound great. I own all the Whiskeytown albums, and while Strangers Almanac will always hold a special place as my first Whiskeytown album, Faithless Street is hands down the best.
Yes, its best appreciated when listening in a melancholy mood, preferably with a drink in hand. But its also a good album to have in the car for driving at night, just cruising. Truly solid Alt country, and in my opinion, the best in the business. .
Real Deal
An excellent example of how the original tradition of country music (that of singing from the heart, about actual experiences many can personally relate to) is being carried out by a new generation of musicians. By far one of the best "country" albums written, performed, and produced in the last decade. This is not your typical "Nashville Pop garbage", but the real deal from a new generation.
Faithless street
I bought this album hoping to hear some good stuff and I was not disappointed. Great album. For Fans of the band, this is a must have album. .
Not the best Album
There are good elements to this album, but while it is worth adding to your collection there are better Whiskeytown Albums around. It's Whiskeytown so it has to be great right? Wrong on this one.
