Announcing to the world that Jack White is a rock god
To my mind, this album is stronger, richer and more consistent than anything he has been a part of since. This is the album in which Jack White announced to the world that he is a rock god. It ranks with the very best albums in rock history. .

This will probably be looked back at as a classic
I had read about the Stripes in the paper (I'm from Metro Detroit, so they're hometown heroes) and wanted to see what the hype was about. Junior year of high school (2007) I found a brand new copy of "Icky Thump" in my public library. I checked out the CD,I took it down to the basement, sat down with a jar of peanut butter and just listened.

For the first time in a while I heard honesty in music, something sorely lacking in all the mainstream crap that's out there.

I pirated Icky Thump (sorry Jack and Meg) and decided to legitimately buy an album. I chose DeStijl and I'm not sorry. It's short, sweet, heartfelt, rocking, and full of Detroit grit 'n soul.

If you're going to start listening to the Stripes, get this or Icky. They're my two favorites. I own them all now, so it's not just sentimentality.

This one is the best White Strpes CD
If you are just getting into the band, I suggest "De Stijl" as the CD to start with. I am writing this in 2009, and I own 6 White Stripes CD's now.
