BUY THIS DISC!!
Every track explodes with a raw energy that is rarely heard from in contemporary bands. No doubt this is my favorite White Stripes album of all time! None of their albums since this one have been able to capture that same grungy garage band intensity. From the first track "Jimmy The Exploder" I was hooked. Their awesome rendition of "Stop Breaking Down" would make Robert Johnson downright proud. In fact, many of the songs on the album are old blues covers but updated beautifully. Jack White's heavily distorted slide guitar playing skills have few peers. The only acoustic song on the album is a track called "Sugar Never Tasted So Good," which sounds like something from Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffitti album. I could go on and on about why you must own this CD but I won't at risk of sounding like a fanboy. The reason I'm reviewing the Japanese version in particular is because it comes with two additional tracks that weren't available on the American release (Let's Shake Hands & Lafayette Blues). Both of these tracks are amazing and were only previously available as singles. With all of the other tracks, in addition to these two extra tracks, I humbly believe this is one of the best rock 'n' roll/blues albums ever made.
