Scary Sexy Fun Thunderkiss was the big song on here along with Black Sunshine of course, then you have a couple other of my favs in "Welcome To Planet. Listening to this Cd all the way through is a fun experience. . . /Psychoholic Slag", and probably my second or 3rd fav song "Thrust!"
Love the heavy groove laid down, the little snippets/samples in between and during certain songs. Especially right before Thrust kicks in. Many of his songs tend to kinda blend together in the style that's used, the band do manage to me to make each song separate though and as it plays out you seem to get into darker and darker territory perhaps but it just keeps feeling good and groovy for the most part. Kinda goofy, you really can't take this stuff too seriously it's just great entertainment on many levels for me to hear and see when giving the chance.
Like buying brand new for 90% off!!!
I'll never buy a "new" CD again now that I know I can save so much money buying from Amazon. My CD arrived quick and was in brand new condition. Totally awesome! I'll recommend this money saving option to everyone I know.
I never TRY anything... I just DO it...wanna TRY me?
The horror imagery mixed with the almost-demo quality production just sucks you into a psychedelic, otherworldly, grunge-horror B-movie metal vortex trip. This album is the quintessential White Zombie record, period. I chuckle when I remember how much this band actually unnerved me a bit the first time I heard them in 1992. Of course, I was watching them live at the time. They were opening for Pantera (nice relaxing evening out, you know). White Zombie was one of those Iron Maiden-types, meaning you looked at their artwork and said "I can't imagine what this band sounds like, but I already love them".
Zombie came out onstage with the beginning of "Soul Crusher", and it was. . . . . from another planet. At the time, it just sounded like nothing else. And they really did look like monsters. Not like campy, costume crap. I mean they looked like they just crawled out of the f*#@ing ground. If this is what Rob was trying to accomplish then I say job well done. . . if you only have one WZ album in your collection, it should be this one.
Don't think too hard on this one
1" was the group's first mainstream breakthrough. White Zombie's 1992 album, "La Sexorcisto-Devil Music Vol. It introduced Rob Zombie to the world of metal, and it also (more-or-less)created a new kind of industrial metal. White Zombie mixed punk with thrash and industrial metal, and the numerous R-rated movie clips helped to add cartoonish/tongue-in-cheek overtones to the music. But "La Sexorcisto" is dragged down by very shoddy production, and music which is nothing special or complex. The downtuned guitar riffs are churning and syncopated, the vocals are deep, the drumming is simple and workman-like. Plus, most of the songs only have one riff (which is repeated for four minutes), so some tracks (like "Warp Asylum") become really quite boring. Fortunately, however, if you don't think too hard about the musicianship or songwriting, the songs become dang catchy and rather enjoyable. The two examples of this are the first track, which is backed by a strong guitar lead, and the very addictive and hooky hit single, "Thunder Kiss '65. " Other highlights include the blistering, pounding fifth track ("Soul-Crusher"), the creepy "Thrust!," and the speedy, running guitar riffs and catchy, stop-start rhythm on "Grindhouse (A Go-Go). " All in all, If you have a craving for a fun, tongue-in-cheek album that rocks really hard and is sure to get your head banging, "La Sexorcisto" is definitely a worthwhile listen, but be aware of its flaws.
Best Zombie By Far
Another reviewer said Thunderkiss was one of the only good songs on this CD? No way. If you like Rob Zombie or at least are interested in the least this is the best of the bunch by far. I am Legend is KILLER and there are plenty of good songs on this CD. No real dudes here at all.
I've owned Astro Creep and 2 other Zombies and none come remotely close to this one. Great CD for a Zombie CD.
