My favorite Who album
It is the band at their best, with a number of their very best, catchiest, and also most popular songs. Need I say more? I have recently been getting back into the music I used to love when a kid, and had forgotten how good The Who are, and how much this particular album has to offer.

One of my favorites.
Previously, I had been listening to it on my record player. I bought this album back in 2001 I think it was, from Wal-Mart. . . Well, can't take my record player outside, now can I? lol

Who's Next stayed in my portable CD player for months, literally. The first track, "Baba O'Riley" offers some amazing synthesizers, and turns into the fast paced "Bargain". Even if you buy this album for only one song, it really is worth it! I still enjoy putting this album on my MP3 Player and walking. It gives me to motivation to get up and do something. . .

I love all of the songs, except for "Water", which is one of the added tracks in the re-mastered version. It's a good listen, but I've never really cared much for that track.

"My Wife" is one of the few songs that John sings, and I personally think it's worth buying just for that track! But, John is my favorite member, so maybe I'm being a bit bias. lol

Anyway, it's one of The Who's greatest albums. Second to Quadrophenia. If you can, get this and Quadrophenia, which was released after Who's Next. It's worth the money.

However, if you're new to The Who, I really suggest getting a "Greatest Hits" album [even though most of them tend to have "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Bargain", "Behind Blue Eyes", and "My Wife" on it. . . Which just goes to show you how great this album is!!].

Who's Next, a true classic

I definitely enjoyed listening to this album. This review is for people like me who know almost nothing about rock music. Not like those flimsy pop albums these days that come with 1 or 2 good songs, with the rest being boring filler. Favorites:

2 Bargain: The drumming alone on this song makes it stand out. The lyrics are pretty good too. My favorite song on the entire album. Has I very nice, but brief instrumental part near the middle.

4 My Wife: I really love the rhythm and pace of this song.

8 Behind blue eyes: A classic song that I recognized from a more recent incarnation. This version is better in my opinion. The upbeat part near the end is very good; I find myself singing it throughout the day.

9 Won't get fooled again: You might recognize parts of this song from the theme for CSI:Miami. It's quite long, but it has very strong lyrics, and some very nice instrumentals mixed in. Worth every second.

The ones I just like: This Song is Over, Getting in Tune, Going Mobile and Baba O'Riley.

The Best of the '70s Who
" This album is perfect. Many great songs can be found on all of The Who's albums from the '70s, but frankly, all of them fall short of "Who's Next. From the opening keyboard riffs on "Baba O'Riley" to the highly climactic ending of "Won't Get Fooled Again," this truly is the best of The Who.

"Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy" is a collection of their early work (1965-70), and "Who's Next" from 1971 completes the collection of hits as far as I'm concerned. "Baba O'Riley," "Bargain," "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Behind Blue Eyes" are all here. In my opinion, that could almost be one whole side (I'm talking vinyl here) of a Greatest Hits album. In addition to those, we get underrated gems like "Love Ain't For Keeping" and "My Wife. "

The band sound energetic, explosive and very exciting throughout, and Roger's vocals are truly in their prime. I do like select songs from their later catalogue (1973's "The Real Me" and "5:15"; 1978's "Who Are You" are good examples), but as far as looking at an album from start to finish, this is just about the last one they made that truly captures and keeps my attention.

This is easily the band's finest hour. Couple "Who's Next" with "Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy" and you've essentially got the best of The Who.

Will there ever be "the" definitive release???
. Okay, what's wrong this 1995 remastered version and why the later reissues? Come on MCA or whoever, just give us the definitive remaster and be done about it - or is this it(?).
