Why on Earth is this out of print? I'm just glad I have it. Another call to re-issue this classic. Others should too.
Please reissue!
It's a great album. It's a shame that this is no longer in production. The songs are a bit pop-y but it's amazing how many really excellent tracks are on it. Williams' voice is unconventional but lovely.
Best
Might have been when Mary Chapin Carpenter told David Letterman that when Lucinda was on he'd better be nice to her - or else! It's one of my top 5 albums of all time. I bought this CD way back in the late 80's. I can't get enough of it. Hard to believe the disc still plays. I love every single one of these songs, and Lucinda's delivery is so passionate and real that I don't like the versions other singers have done of her songs.
I love a lot of her other songs as well, but this one has a special place in my heart. I'm so glad to see her get some of the recognition she deserves for Car Wheels and others.

My very favorite LW
But this CD has something for everyone; rock, blues, great lyrics. I saw her recently on the David Letterman Show perform a song from her new disc and I can't say I wanted to run out and buy it. . . There are two versions of "Side of the Road" on it. One is a studio recording and another is live. I go back and forth between which one I like better. She is a very good song writer who speaks from the heart. Her voice can be a little edgy at times but she is original. I also like "Something about what happens" as a ballad with great lyrics and acoustic guitar playing. My friend Jim and I did a backpacking trip and drove 10 hours to get to the trailhead. He had this tape in his car and I was hooked after the first time he popped it in. A great album and association with it.
Visit a good record store
If you can't find it, buy it from one of these people asking $45-70. You can find this record if you look for it, in new condition for normal prices. No one who loves their sibling, New Orleans, or convertibles can fail to connect with Crescent City. Bonnie Raitt on her best day wishes she had written "The Night's Too Long" or "Big Red Sun Blues. " Passionate Kisses and Side of the Road are great, but only are complements to the material on this record. See her live, buy all her records, do something to hear this woman sing some of these great songs she has written, played and, as far as any listener can tell, lived.
