Was a great EP when it came out But if you already have the original Lucinda Williams CD without the bonus tracks, you might still be interested in picking this up if you find it for a good price. Now the cuts on this EP, plus a couple more bonus tracks, are all on the 1998 reissue of the self-titled Lucinda Williams CD, so most people will probably want to look for them there. Here are the timings:
1. Passionate Kisses (2:40)
2. Nothing in Rambling (3:13)
3. Disgusted (3:12)
4. Goin' back Home (3:25)
5. Side of the Road (3:57)
"Passionate Kisses" is the studio version that later appeared on the Lucinda Williams album (original and reissue). It's a great recording, better than the hit cover version, more punch, verve.
Tracks 2, 3 and 5 are live recordings from KPFK in Los Angeles, now on the Lucinda Williams reissue. Very fine acoustic, or mainly acoustic (not sure about the bass), blues (2, 3) or folk (5) songs. A studio version of "Side of the Road" was included on the Lucinda Williams album, and the reissue has both versions. A favorite of mine.
"Going Back Home" is another nice acoustic blues song recorded with Taj Mahal on guitar and harmonica. Again, this was added to the Lucinda Williams album reissue.
Rare And Live Versions Of Some Of Lucinda Williams' Best
If you like Lucinda's music you'll be grateful these were released. Singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams is one of the great original voices these days.
"Passionate Kisses" - her first hit
"Nothing In Rambling", "Disgusted", and "Side Of The Road" - recorded live at KPFK Los Angeles, with Gurf Morlix and Dr. John Ciambotti from her band
"Goin' Back Home" - recorded in New York, January '83.
