Mr. Excitement
He was, as my title suggests, an electrifying performer, one of the greats. I saw Jackie Wilson at Scarlet O'Hara's in Underground Atlanta on either October 31st or November 1st of 1972.

All of his great hits are here with the exception of 1 top 20 song and a few others that were in the top 40. However, in my opinion, that does not diminish this double CD as none of those songs are my favorites. This is the most complete compilation of Jackie Wilson's hits with three, from March of 1960 to January of 1961, being covers of classical staples, Night, Alone At Last and My Empty Arms.

I guarantee that any Jackie Wilson fan who buys this double CD will play it at least 3 times before playing something else. .

Love Jackie
All of the songs you want are right here. Love it! Jackie is the best. The download was simple and quick. Too bad you have to download yet another app. to get mp3s from Amazon.

The Ultimate Jackie Wilsom
I took it on a recent trip to Indiana to see my favorite cousin and as I played it he said I must have that CD. This is my second purchase of this CD. I gladly gave it to him knowing I could return to My Amazon and order me another. I'm more than pleased with all the selections as they remind me of my mother and I can still see her dancing to this music. .

A Great Collection From One Of The Most Soul-Stirring Voices Of All Time!!
k. Man, when I think of Jackie Wilson, a. a. Mr. Excitement,
my mind goes all the way back to those far away summers
at my grandparents house in the early 70's, when a very
musical young 8/9 yr old kid (myself) discovered a treasure
trove of old 45's, 78's, and albums that dated all the way
back to the mid 40's & down through the 50's and 60's
that once belonged to my mother, aunts and
uncles when they were teenagers!
They were kept in the large drawers of the two end tables that
flanked my grandparents old wood encased "hi-fi", which by
that time, there sat on top of it a then state-of-the-art
stereo system complete with an 8 track player!
(Ha!!--those were the days!)

Anywayz, everybody from Louis Jordan to Big Maybelle to
Laverne Baker to The Flamingos, Little Richard, Sam Cooke,
early James Brown, Ray Charles, etc. was in that drawer,
and I could go on and on!
But there was this one record called "Danny Boy" by an artist
named Jackie Wilson, that went straight to the core of me!
This man's voice was the purest, most soaring, most dexterious,
most soulful & beautiful voice that I'd ever heard in my life
to that point!--This man was SANGIN'---not just singing!

I think I played that song, along with "Your Love Keeps
Liftin' Me Higher" and "Your Whispers Gettin' Louder"
about 25 times a piece that day!
And as the years went on, I learned more and more about this man
who they say the ladies used to swoon over and the guys
wanted to be like!
In addition to his great vocal gifts, Jackie Wilson was also one
of the greatest performers, second only to the late great
James Brown himself, for absolutely shaking a concert
hall to it's very foundation!
Jackie was a bad man, and I mean that in a good way!

My aunt told me of the time when she once saw Jackie Wilson,
Sam Cooke and James Brown & The Famous Flames all on the same bill!
--Man, was I jealous!--If I had only been born 20yrs earlier!
For me, that would've been sensory overload!--
But to their generation, that was just three of the
hottest kats going at that time!
This compilation is a very good one and well worth the money!
Jackie could have sung opera if he'd wanted to!
He gives you soulfulness ("Doggin Around",
"Woman, Lover, Freind" & "Whispers"). . .
beautifully arranged & articulated ballads
("Night", "Danny Boy" & "To Be Loved"). . .
stomp-the-floor-down dance songs ("Baby, Work Out",
"Reet Petite" & "Lonely Teardrops")
and of course those songs of great longing that defy category!
("No Pity In The Naked City" & "Your Love Keeps Liftin'")---
It's all encapsulated wonderfully on here!
So Enjoy one of the greats!---Jackie Wilson!!--Mr. Excitement himself!
.

a great Collection from a Great Artist
you have to admire his phrasing&Tone. Jackie WIlson always put something down in the Studio with His Vocals. you understand his impact on Elvis Presley&Michael Jackson amongest others who felt the soulful&Smooth delievery from Jackie Wilson. He was so versatile&truly a one of a kind Artist. the biggest mystery is why he was never signed directly to Motown Records?? imagine his voice on some of those Motown Classics in the mid to late 60's??? His Influence is felt over so many Artists past&present. a must have collection.
