great rock'n'blues!!! my buddy owned a record store+guitar shop at the time ,he said after i bought thie record he put in back up on the shelf+quite a few guitar players bought a lot of copies of it! "murdering blues" is my favorite cut. seen johnny winter open for george thorogood back in the 80's right when this recored came out, he played that small guitar+ blew me away with his great guitar playin!!! he's in my top 10 of the greatest guitarest of all time!! this cd is great a+ songs from top to bottom. if you like rockin' blues this one's for you!!.
GUITAR GUNSLINGER
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE OTHER REVIEWERS MEAN WHEN THEY SAY HIS GUITAR PLAYING HAS A "TINNY" SOUND. GREAT ALBUM FROM JOHNNY WINTER. SOUNDS GREAT TO ME, WISH I COULD PLAY GUITAR LIKE THAT, PARTICULARLY WHEN HE PLAYS SLIDE GUITAR. NOTHING "TINNY" ABOUT THAT. LOTS OF LONG GUITAR SOLOS, NICE MIX OF OLD BLUES AND MORE UPBEAT SONGS. IF YOU LIKE JOHNNY WINTER, YOU WILL LIKE THIS ALBUM. PERIOD.
one hot winter
great songs, incredible guitar. johnny winter, his rockin' blues guitar playing. dig it.
Excellent Work; Re-master Badly Needed
The song selection is excellent and Johnny's guitar playing is the hottest of his post Columbia career. This CD is unreal. This CD is in BAD need of a remaster. It is listenable and I recommend purchasing. In fact, this is the one CD in my collection that the material is so good it far outways the sound quality. Turn down the treble and crank it up, it's EXCELLENT.
one of best
it the most energized i have heard him since his rick derringer days. this album would be 5 stars but the tinny tone from his guitar distracts from some of the excellent guitar solos, but beside that this album is excellent, great choice of material and johnny really rips it up on guitar.
