Great Live Disk The opening tune, "Bony Marony" begins with a ripping Johnny guitar solo then the band jumps in. This is a great Johnny Winter disk, with the added treat of hearing him play live with Floyd Radford trading guitar licks. There is a fine cover of "Roll With Me" a Rick Derringer tune, and then an obscure John Lennon tune, "Rock and Roll People". The band plays tight to the groove, and Johnny roars vocally. The version of Dylan's "Highway 61" showcases stunning slide guitar, and a great solo during the break. "Sweet Papa John" is a slow blues number, a style that is signature Johnny Winter. This is great live album, which is the perfect companion to "Johnny Winter, Live And". Get both and enjoy them!.
Johhny Winter "Captured Live"
This version of "Highway 61" is especially tasty. This is vintage Winter at his best! It rocks from start to finish and the interplay between Johhny and second guitarist Radford is phenominal.
Awesome
Heard better guitar. . . but can't remember when!! One of the best, this CD is proof! Every Johnny Winter CD is a good, nothin better then buying a CD and getting your money's worth. .
Totally Rockin' Wild Greatness
This was recorded from some huge live shows on the West Coast and the quality is very good. Johnny cuts loose from the opening bars with his signature high-energy blues-rock. He plays a fair amount through a stereo chorus which adds a nice touch. Every track is played with the full out energy of a headline centerpiece. If this don't get you rockin' then nothing will. I recommend this instead of coffee in the morning, higher volumes preferred.
The Master
Though I was mostly a metal head in my teens, I was always drawn to the chops of Johnny Winter. What a joy it was to 'reconnect' with my guitar hero from my youth. Seeing him in person @ 15 years old left a lasting impression. This CD brought back the memories of his show.
Highway 61 Revisited is worth the price of admission. Johnny simply tears up the fret board and demonstrates his slide guitar acumen. Sweet Papa John is a great album ender as Johnny takes one's breath away with his raw blues rock.
The songs Roll With Me and Rock-n-Roll People have some distracting feedback, but hey, it's a live concert. If you are a fan of live music AND enjoy blues/slide/lead guitar, you will enjoy this CD.
