Put Bill Withers in the Hall Of Fame
Bill Withers (and about a dozen or more others I can name - ranging from the Monkees to BTO to Arthur Alexander to Badfinger to The Raiders to Pat Benatar) should be inducted. This is an absolute powerhouse show, out of print for way too long. NOT disco and rap types who have nothing at all to do with rock or it's predecessors. Madumma belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall about as much as John Wilkes Booth belongs in the Presidential Hall of Fame! Grandma's hands should punch out those arrogant Rolling Shame types who control the process. They finally DID nominate the Hollies!
Now that I've vented. . . chill out with one of the greatest live sets ever recorded. Superior musically, vocally, lyrically, sonically, emotionally, and historically. Well, we all need some allies.

A Deserted Island Album
I not only have the album, gone through the cassette and bought the CD, but I buy the CD for friends as gifts, too. This is one of my long time favorites. I tout Bill "live" as one of the albums I would select "if I had to be marooned on a deserted island with only ten recordings" - I think this live album is so good because the music is inspired and FELT by the artist, not just performed. Further, Mr. Withers shows his wit, his perspectives and his soul; he is likeable and talented. Rock on, Bill - I will ALWAYS dig you!.

Historic 1972 concert
Bill Withers offers a sweeping retrospective of his popular songs along with witty commentary and friendly banter with the audience, providing wonderful insights into such songs as "Grandma's Hands. Damn! It just doesn't get any better than this. " The quality of the recording is excellent as you hear the audience feedback without it overwhelming the songs. Bill covers the gamut of emotions on these songs from social commentary to playful personal notes, capping it off with a searing version of "Harlem/Cold Baloney. " If there is one Bill Withers album to have in your collection this is it!.

Great live performance
This album confirms it. Bill Withers is oneof the greatest R & B performers EVER. Too bad I was only 5 years old when he performed at Carnegie Hall. . . LIVE. Thanks to the miracles of modern tech, I was there, anyway. And I can be there anytime I want. The song 'I Can't Write Left-Handed' is as poignant today as it was when he performed it in '72. The group Sweetback (Sade's boys) did a version of 'Hope She'll Be Happier' that is almost as good as Bill Withers' live version. I'd recommend it to EVERYBODY who likes to hear "real music by real musicians. ".

more bill
great album, same songs but performed with such gusto and soul that they seemed brand new, never tire of listening to it.
