Laid Back She has a powerful and versatile voice that sounds equally convincing on sentimental ballads and more soulful numbers. The Song Remembers When is another classy release from adult contemporary/country singer Trisha Yearwood. The title track falls into the former category. You can tell Trisha was heavily invested in the lyrics based on her passionate vocal performance. As with all of Trisha's records, the harmonies are a highlight. Willie Nelson guests on "Hard Promises to Keep" and his own "One in a Row. " Other great songs include "I Don't Fall in Love So Easy" and the mysterious "Mr. Radio. " 4 Stars.
Great voice
this is one of those songs that describe how we all feel when we here a special song.
Beautiful Pop/Country From Trisha!!!
This is one of her best albums. This was Trisha's breakthrough album and rightly so.
Included is the big hit and title track The Song Remembers When, this is a classic song still.
Other standouts are the beautiful ballads Hard Promises To Keep which features Willie Nelson on harmonies,The Nightingale and Lying To The Moon.
She also does a great cover on Rodney Crowells song I Don't Fall In Love So Easy and Willie Nelsons One In A Row.
This album has mainly ballads and it works well for Trisha as ballads really showcase her beautiful voice perfectly.
A fine addition to your country collection. . . . .
An album full of quality ballads
This album is not like that at all - it is one of those albums that sounds more impressive each time you play it. I became a fan of Trisha's from the time I played her debut album, which was full of songs that grabbed my attention instantly. This album is dominated by reflective ballads that suit Trisha ideally. If you want to hear Trisha sing more up-tempo material, there isn't much here, although you will enjoy If I ain't got you.
Among the great ballads here, the title track (about how hearing a certain song can bring back memories), Mr Radio (a cover of a song previously recorded by Linda Ronstadt for her 1982 album, Get closer), One in a row (a cover of an old Willie Nelson song), I don't fall in love so easy (a Rodney Crowell song), The nightingale (an excellent original song) and Lying to the moon (a song written and first recorded by Matraca Berg) are particularly noteworthy, but every song here is a gem.
This is a masterpiece from one of the finest country singers of her generation.
One to remember
Her strength has always been ballads, she does well with any material she sinks her teeth into, but on her ballads you really get to feel what she's saying, and it comes from the heart. Trisha's third album THE SONG REMEMBERS WHEN finds the singer going for a more contemporary country sound. The title track has to be one of her most memorable songs, a song about love lost and remembering it. She does a good version of her idol Linda Ronstadt's "Mr. Radio", and Rodney Crowell's "I Don't Fall In Love So Easy". Other highlights include "Better Your Heart Than Mine", "One In A Row" and the closing "Lying to The Moon". Only a real singer can deliver the image from the heart of the song. Yearwood here is the heart of the song itself.
