Delicate Country Blues (with Soul, Bluegrass, Doo-Wop Too) Jesse's vocal on "I Shall Be Released" is special and touching, their energetic take on "La Bamba" makes you think you are listening to it for the first time, and I especially like the Wurlitzer piano break on the jazzified "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window. Was there a more beautiful sweet tenor than that of Jesse Colin Young? Here Jesse, Banana and the boys gently move through a series of Americana standards ("Running Bear"), doo-wop ("Speedo"), Beatles ("She Came in Through the Bathroom Window"), Dylan ("I Shall Be Released") and more, all delivered in a relaxed, effortless manner. "
I highly recommend all of the reissues of the Youngbloods 1970-to-their-demise output. It's doubtful these classics will stay in print, overlooked and ignored, but a lot of great great music there.
