Artist: The Doors
Title: Live at the Matrix
Format: 2 CD
Released: November 2008
This is the Doors at the start of their career, young and fresh. You can also hear that the band has a good time and a good mood; they stretch the songs to the limit, ad extra fill and test different vocals. There are many Doors live recordings released and this one is not the first one to buy as the sound quality is far from what we are used to these days. Experts even say that you can find bootlegs of the same show with better sound, but as the show is so unique this is still a must have for above-average-fans.
It includes a cover of Allen Toussaint's “Get Out Of My Life, Woman,” which has never appeared on any previous Doors albums. You will also hear the band mapping out early versions of songs from upcoming albums.Neither the Doors, nor their corporate record labels Warner Music Group, Rhino or Elektra own the original master recordings. This is just a polished second generation copy of a copy, and the songs have some hiss and speed problems. It is still a cool double-disc.
