Date: Tue, 22 Jun 2004 22:52:57 -0400 From: kmega@bellsouth.net Subject: c/clapton_eric/let_it_flow.crd Let It Grow - Eric Clapton There are already a couple of versions of chords for this song, but I think there are more chord changes than most have indicated. I also tried to add a little of the bass lines and the structure of the song. It's a wonderful song and I hope these notes help someone have a lot of fun with it. - km Chords/Bass for Verse --------------------- Bm/B F#/A# D/A E/G# G/G A/A Bm/B F#/A# D/A E/G# G/G A/A B/B Chords/Bass for Chorus ---------------------- B/B D#m/A# G#m/G# B/F# E/E B/B A/A B/B D#m/A# G#m/G# B/F# E/E B/B A/A F#/F# Chords/Bass for Bridge ---------------------- G/G D/F# Em/E Bm/B A/A G/G D/F# Em/E Bm/B F#/F# Song Structure: --------------- Verse 1 Chorus Verse 2 Chorus Bridge Verse (Instrumental) Verse 3 Chorus Chorus Verse (Instrumental - repeat to fade) Verse 1: Bm/B F#/A# Standing at the crossroads D/A E/G# G Trying to read the signs A To tell me which way I should Bm/B F#/A# Go to find the answer D/A E/G# G And all the time I know A B Plant your love and let it grow Chorus: B D#m/A# G#m/G# B/F# Let it grow, let it grow E B A Let it blossom, let it flow B D#m/A# G#m/G# B/F# In the sun, the rain, the snow E B A F# Love is lovely, let it grow Verse 2: Looking for a reason To check out on my mind Trying hard to get a friend That I can count on There's nothing left to show Plant your love and let it grow Chorus. Bridge. G D Em Bm A G D Em Bm F# Verse (Instrumental) Verse 3: Time is getting shorter There's much for me to do Only ask and you will know what you are needing The rest is up to you Plant your love and let it grow Chorus. Chorus. Verse (Instrumental - repeat to fade) I haven't spent much time on it, but it appears that that wonderful guitar part is based on playing the chords of the verse on the G, B, and E strings as follows: Bm - based at 7th fret F# - based at 9th fret D - based at 10th fret E - based at 7th fret G - based at 7th fret A - based at 9th fret or put another way: Bm F# D E G A EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE xxx777 xxxee9 xxxett xxx997 xxx787 xxx9t9 where "e" means "eleven" and "t" means "ten". Try it and see what you think. I know it's a little more complex than that, but I haven't had time to figure it out. CHORUS Bm F#7 D E G A ... From: ax271@FreeNet.Carleton.CA (Marc Sykes) Subject: CRD: Let it Grow by Eric Clapton Bm F#7 D E Standin' at the crossroads, tryin' to read the signs G A Bm F#7 To tell me which way I should go to find the answer D E And all the time I know, G A B Plant your love and let it grow. B Let it grow, let it grow, E B A Let it blossom, let it flow, B In the sun, the rain, the snow, E B A Love is lovely, A F#7 let it grow. This is the basic structure for the verses and chorus. For the instrumental part with the dobro solo, the chords go: G, D/F#, Em, Bm, A, G, Em, Bm, F#, Bm, F#7, D/A, E/G#, G, A. This part is sort of difficult to learn, but if you listen to the song it should become clear eventually. Hope this helps.
