Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2003 16:09:11 -0800 From: don1860@speakeasy.net Subject: c/cream/badge.tab Badge (Clapton/Harrison) Cream Robert Donohoe (don1860@speakeasy.net) My first TAB, and my own work. This is my best guess, and I^Òm doing it from memory, so some is bound to be wrong. I would be very happy to see corrections, ideas etc. A ^Ñb^Ò before a note means that the note begins sharped, usually by a half note. I also plea for somebody to make a good effort at tabbing Tales of Brave Ulysses, which is probably even harder than this due to all the Wah. The guitar parts during the start and verses are subtle and involve a lot of muting. The first time through, there is a set of two finger riffs as: ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- --5-9-5/7-7-7-7-7----------------------- 7-3-7-3/5-5-5-5-5----------------------- 5--------------------------------------- but the second time through it mostly sounds like muted strumming of the Am and D chords. Then a slide off of the 10th fret on the low E string to G# and then the verse chords start. I play the verses as (bar chords) Am, D (no 3rd?) and Em, with some diddling of the middle finger on the Em, dropping the little finger on the change back to Am, and dropping the ring finger on the change to C, but most of that is to pick up the piano part ^Ö the chords are pretty straight stuff. Between the first two verses (after the quiet pause), the notes include a gently played B along with E,G,G# There are some quiet EC bits leading into the bridge (allegedly read upside down as ^Ñbadge^Ò, hence the name). The last bit is: ------7----------------7------------------ ----3-5---5p0-----3----5------------------ 2/4-----------2/4------------------------- -------------------2---------------------- ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ Intro to Harrison bit: ----------------------| ------------1---------| ----2-----0------0--0-| 0-4-----2------0------| ------3------2--------| ------------------3---| Then GH pretty much repeats this: -------------------------------- ----3---------------1----------- --2---2-----2-----0-------0---0- 0-------0-4-----2-------0------- --------------3-------2--------- ----------------------------3--- Clapton solo following ^Óbefore they bring the curtain down^Ô (ok, maybe. Each note is played with some qualities I lack - power & finesse & style, etc., and some of the stuff is just too fast to discern even at slow playback. Try up- picking the 1st 4 notes to get the release/ tremolo right): -------------------------------------------------------- b14r-b14r-b14-b14~-13--------13-----------------15---13- ---------------------14-12/14--14\12-10--12/14-<14>-<14> ---------------------------------------12--------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- b17r-15~---b19-b19-b19-18-b19-18~-15----b17r-15-17-15-17 --------16---------------------------16----------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- ------15-b17r-15-17-15~-----------------18-b20r-18------ 14-16-------------------14h16-/19-/19~------------19-19- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- fast sassy big bend! -------------------------------------------------------- 20-18----b20r-18~----b20-b20-b20-b20-b20-b20r-18-------- ------19----------19-----------------------------19\---- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- REALLY BIG bend! ----------b17------------b17r--------------------------- ----15-b17-----b17r-15~------b17r-15-12-15~-12-15-15---- /16----------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- faster ---------------13b---14b-13-14b-13-14b-13-14b-13-14b---- 12-15-15-15-12------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- (GEEZ!?!?) -------------------------------------------------------- /12-12h15p12----------13-------------------------------- -------------14\---/14----14\12-10---------------------- -----------------------------------12-12~--------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- (Baker-drum-roll fast: I could be very wrong here) -------------------------------------------------------- -------------13--------------13------------------------- -10<11>12/14-----10<11>12/14----14\12-10---------------- -----------------------------------------10-12-10-12---- -----------------------------------------------------12~ -------------------------------------------------------- Talkin bout a girl that looks quite like you ----12-----12-12-----14----14-15------------------------ /12----/12-------/12----12-------/12-12-12-10----10~---- ----------------------------------------------12-----12- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- She didn^Òt have the time to wait in the queue --b10r-7------------------------------------------------ ---------b10r-5-3--------------------------------------- --------------------5-2---5-2---/5~--------------------- ------------------2-----2-----2------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- She cried away her life, said she fell out the cradle. -----5-3----7------------------------------------------- -3/5-3-1-/5-5------------------------------------------- -2/4-----/4--------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------
