Jesus Freak by D.C. Talk
from the album Jesus Freak
Transcribed by: Bobby Heffernan
Based on tabs by: Gert Hansen and aXman

This is Jesus Freak as I hear it. I haved based my transcription on the
work of Gert Hansen (gerth@usa.net)
who in turn based his work on that of aXman (kyleb@juno.com). These two
people deserve most of the credit for
this work and what I have done is merely an improvement. I have done my
best to make sure this sounds right and
have put a lot of effort into it but this is my first tab and I'm pretty
inexperienced.
I have included parts for both Accoustic and Electric. Each section (e.g. -
intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus etc.)
consists of two parts: accoustic and electric. Mostly the accoustic is
chords and the electric is tabbed. I have
labeled all of them anyway though. I have also included the bass parts that
Gert did, I have not checked these and
they could be wrong. Also, I have tried to indent it to make it easier to
read, does this help?

Here we go....

Tuning of Guitars:
Just like Gert I have written the tab in standard tuning. There are two
main reasons for this: firstly Gert
originally wrote his tab in standard tuning and two, because it's much
easier that way. This song is actually
played with a tuning of F (that's a half-note up).

Intro:

Acoustic Guitar:
E G C G A (Note: play these as bar chords, it sounds much better.)

Next the electric guitar comes in with the main riff (below).

Main riff: Electric Guitar (used in Second half of intro and the chorus)

       F G# D# A#7 C
  e: ------------------|----------------------
  B: ------------------|-8-8------------------

  E: --1-1-1-1-4-4-4-4-|-----6-6-8--8--8--8---

Verse:

Accoustic: F C# A# A# (once again barch chords sound good here)

Electric: (play this with a nice clear sound, no distortion)

  e: ------------------|
  B: ------------------|

                           ]
D: --3-/---5--4------|<--| REPEAT THIS FOR THE VERSES: LISTEN TO THE CD TO
GET IT RIGHT |

                           ]
  E: --1-/-------------|

Pre-chorus (rap):

Accoustic Guitar: I don't think it plays here

Electric Guitar: (back in with lots of distortion)
        (These are just Power Chords)
(listen to the CD to get the timing right)

  e: -------------------------------
  B: -6-6-6--9--9-9--8-8-8--7--7-7-7
  G: -5-5-5--8--8-8--7-7-7--6--6-6-6
  D: -3-3-3--6--6-6--5-5-5--4--4-4-4
