Subject: Jeffrey Gaines: "In Your Eyes"

In Your Eyes (Live version)

Performed by Jeffrey Gaines. Written by Peter Gabriel.

Transcribed by James M Lawrence. (jl@student.umass.edu)

You probably will need the recording to get a really good feel for the
song. It is on the single of "Headmasters of Mine".
For starters, the primitive chords are:

intro
Bm A D D (4 times) (technically, the A is always Asus6)

1st verse
Bm A D D
Bm A G G (4 times)

bridge
A A G G (4 times)

G G G G
G G

chorus
E E D D (6 times)
E,Esus4,E,Esus4

2nd intro
Bm A D D
Bm A D D

2nd verse(same as 1st)
bridge
chorus

The tab is hard to write because it is very syncopated and so many
of the notes are played quitely while others are louder. There
even are some instances in this tab where the marked note is hardly
played, if at all. I put parenthesis around the notes that I thought
were the most de-emphasized. The "|" line means stop the strings
and/or strum with the strings stopped.

...this is generally the same for the rest of the chorus.
There are places where the E and G are strummed a few times more.

The second verse is pretty much the same form as the first, with
minor variations, and the obvious pauses.

I will eventually sumbit a revised edition of this song that
would smooth out some of the unclear parts. In any case, don't
kill yourself trying to learn it exactly; I'm sure Jeffrey
Gaines couldn't play it again precisely the same way.
