Artist: Thea Gilmore
Song: "The Cracks"
Album: Avalanche

Transcribed by: Sean Ainsworth

It's easiest to play this with a capo on the first fret, but it's not necessary.
It's fingerpicked.

This is my first tab. I'm still not entirely sure about the part immediately after the O chord,
but about 90%. Anyway it's a great song, and I couldn't find a tab, so here it is.

I've nicknamed the below chord "O" because I have no idea what it is. Anybody who knows is
welcome to post me the name (livejournal.com, shoemonkey) and I'll update with thanks.

In standard tuning:

    F Bbm O
e---1----1----3---
A---1----2----1---
G---2----3----2---
D---3----3----1---
A---3----1----3---
E---1----1----1---

I've broken the tab into progressions to make it easier to write out and read. Really the
only difference between this and playing the chord twice is that there's an extra note (in
parentheses) which is sometimes picked and sometimes isn't; I'll leave that up to you, but
there are chords played only once, so watch out for missing *asterisks*.

Intro: F* - Bbm* - F* - Bbm*

Verse:

F* Bbm* F* Bbm*
   Don't stop singing, it's a beautiful sound

F* Bbm* F* Bbm*
I'll get the drinks in before we hit the ground

O* Bbm* F*
   And I don't know who'll speak first

O* Bbm* F Bbm F*
It doesn't matter anyway tonight let's be best strangers

Bbm* F*
They closed the bar an hour ago

Bbm* F*
Last train whistles down the track

O* Bbm* F B F*
But I see something growing up from the cracks

F* Bbm* F* Bbm*
I'll show you my heart if you'll show me yours

F* Bbm* F* Bbm*
Are we wild and unique babe or just par for the course

O* Bbm* F*
What have we got to lose anyway

O* Bbm* F Bbm F*
From one drunk to another, I think what I'm trying to say is

Bbm* F*
   Some mirrors have been broken

Bbm* F*
And some things pull you back

O* Bbm* F Bbm F*
But I see something growing up from the cracks

F* - Bbm* - F* - Bbm* - F* - Bbm* - F* - Bbm*

F* Bbm* F* Bbm*
We've all seen the thunder that's coming in low

F* Bbm* F* Bbm*
And each day tries to run you right off the road

o* Bbm* F*
But if you listen hard for the sound

O* Bbm* F Bbm F*
We'll get a thousand hooves drumming in this one horse town and

Bbm* F*
the lights are out on the west side

Bbm* F*
and the'll paint the sky in black

O* Bbm* F Bbm F*
I swear I see something shining on from the cracks

Bbm* F*
And they closed this bar an hour ago

Bbm* F*
Last train whistles down the track

O* Bbm* F Bbm F
But I see something growing up from the cracks

That's all. Enjoy.
