Plus, it shows off their versatility as musicians, and like Chicago and Dave Matthews before them, they prove once again you can add horns without making it ska. It's got a funk/jazz feel throughout, so you should play along to get the timing, otherwise, it should be pretty straightforward. intro (play 3x) ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| -2h5-2-0h2-------2h5-2-0h2-------|-2h5-2-0h2-------2h5-2-0h2-0-------------| -----------2-2h5-----------3-3h5-|-----------2-2h5-------------3h5-3-2h3-2-| (play 2x) ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| -2h5-2-0h2-------2h5-2-0h2-------|-2h5-2-0h2-------2h5-2-0h2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-| -----------2-2h5-----------3-3h5-|-----------2-2h5-------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| -12h15p12------------------------------------------| ----------14---------------------------------------| -------------12h14p12----12-12s14s12----12---------| ----------------------14-------------14------------| ---------------------------------------------------| verse Bm (strum throughout) ...tonight ...possible ...phone ...fly ...myself ...canopy ...phone ...be ---------------------------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| -7-9-9s11-9-7s9-7----------------------------------| ------------------9--------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| On the last time through the verse, right before the chorus, Mike Einziger, their guitarist plays something that sounds like he's using a harmonics or octave effect. This is the best I can figure what it is he's playing, written for clean electric. -17----15----14----12----10---9---7----------------| ----16----14----13----11----9---8---6--------------| ---------------------------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| chorus Bm A C7 (play 2x) ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| ---------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| -2h5-2-0h2-------2h5-2-0h2-------|-2h5-2-0h2-------2h5-2-0h2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-| -----------2-2h5-----------3-3h5-|-----------2-2h5-------------------------| (repeat 4x, 2nd time through) ---------------------------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| ---------------------------------------------------| ------------------------2-2-2--2-2-2---------------| ------------------------2-2-2--2-2-2---------------| -3-3-3--2h3-2-0-2-2-2---0-0-0--0-0-0---------------| verse chorus solo Bm A chorus Bm A C7 e---7--- e---5--- e---7--- B---7--- B---5--- B---5--- G---7--- G---6--- G---6--- Please e-mail me any corrections, questions or requests; my email is also my IM screen name, so don't be shy.
