"Requiem"

Coleman / Walker / Youth / Ferguson
Bass by Youth

Transcribed by The Lord Leto II
From the original recording.

Intro: 32 counts of synth on "Bb", 2 licks of guitar,
then singing begins "The requiem"

"Man watching video
 The clock keeps on ticking
 He doesn't know why
 He's just cattle for slaughter"

Here is Riff 1

Technique: pluck/pick the D as you finger fret 5 with index finger,
then quickly hammer on with middle or ring finger to "6"

Riff 1
G --------------------------------
D --------------------------------
A ----56------6-------------------
E 6-6---6---6-----3-3-3-3-4-4-4-4-

Play Riff 1 4 times, the first time there are no vocals,
the 2nd time is "The... Requi--"
After playing it a 4th time, play

Riff 1 w/ ending variant
G --------------------------------
D --------------------------------
A ----56------6-------------------
E 6-6---6---6-----3-3-3-3-4-4-3-1-

Now, learn Riff 2. Your knowledge of when to use Riff 1
vs. Riff 2 will be very impressive to Jokers and non-Jokers
alike

Technique: Hammer on the 8th fret quickly after plucking/picking
the Ab on the 6th fret. Hold the low Bb and slide
down a little.

Riff 2
G --------------------------------
D 68------------------------------
A --------------------------------
E --6-6-6-6-6-6-\-3-3-3-3-4-4-4-4-

You will play Riff 2 3 times, then

Riff 2 pulse/ending variant
G --------------------------------
D 68------------------------------
A --------------------------------
E --6-6-6-6-6-6-6-3-3-3-3-4-4-3-1-

Note how Riff 2 variant has no hold & slide down on/from
the low Bb, instead the staccato pulse is kept. Also the
ending walks down Ab Ab G F

VERSE 2

"When the meaningful words
 When they cease to function
 When there's nothing to say
When will they start plotting 'gainst you"

Basically, play Riff 1 four times.

The first time, it's as normal.

But the second time, play Riff 1 Variant 1
G --------------------------------
D --------------------------------
A ----56------6-------------------
E 6-6---6---6-----3-3-3-334-4-4-4-

and the third time, play Riff 1 Variant 2
G --------------------------------
D --------------------------------
A ----56------6-------------------
E 6-6---6---6-----3-3-3-134-4-4-4-

and the forth time, play Riff 1 ending variant

CHORUS 2

Basically, play Riff 2 four times. But
the third time, play

Riff 2 variant 1
G --------------------------------
D 68------------------------------
A --------------------------------
E --6-6-666-6-6-\-3-3-3-3-4-4-4-4/

and the fourth time play Riff 2 pulse/ending variant

BRIDGE

Riff 2 four times. The fourth time, do the
pulse/ending variant.

VERSE 3
"Only a hint of religion
 Uncensored through its false depravity
 The sound of breaking glass
 This is a reflection"

Riff 1 four times. But they're all variants

first time: Riff 1 Variant 2
second time: Riff 1 Variant 3
G --------------------------------
D --------------------------------
A ----56------6-------------------
E 6-6---6---6-----3-3-3-3-4-4-x34-

note: an x denotes a muted hit. Or, let
the drummer make a hit.

third time: Riff 1 Variant 4
G --------------------------------
D --------------------------------
A ----56------6-------------------
E 6-6---6---6-----3-3-3-3-4-4-434-

fourth time: Riff 1 ending variant

CHORUS 3

Do Riff 2
Do Riff 2, with ending variant
G --------------------------------
D 68------------------------------
A --------------------------------
E --6-6-6-6-6-6-\-3-3-3-3-4-4-3-1-
Do Riff 2
Do Riff 2 final
G --------------------------------
D 68------------------------------
A --------------------------------
E --6-6-6-6-6-6-\-3-3-3-----------

Final notes:
* Raven may play it differently
* My Riff 1 Variant 1 might be substituted with Riff 1 Variant 2
* I might have some of the "ending variants" wrong
* Listen for when to play staccato when when to play legato
* Often the song is played 3 frets down (this is so in two
live versions I have, and also in the Foo Fighters' cover,
and in this key it is very easy to sing), e.g. the synth starts
on a G instead of Bb. In that case, just play everything 3
frets down, but the ending variants then go down to D so
you'll need to tune down to D or use a 5-string or play
something different.
