UP TEMPO
Artist: Leo Kottke
Album: "Live in Europe" and "Leo Kottke" (Chrysalis)

Transcription and Tablature: Roger Hess 2/20/97

12 String tuned to open C (CGCGCE)
Slide worn on little finger.

"Up Tempo" has to be one of Leo Kottke's shortest and most energetic pieces.
It's one of his "wall of sound" powerhouse tunes from the 70's, and is far
more impressive live than on the recordings. Although it may sound
difficult, it is fun and easy to play once the rhythms in Part 2 are
mastered.

This tune sounds great with a magnetic soundhole pickup and the bass cranked
up a bit. It also gives a little more reason to tune down to C to practice
Busted Bicycle and the Toad!

Comments and corrections are welcome.

are upstrokes. Entire section rhythm is alternate thumb down-finger up

Part 3

This section is played with LH ring finger on 1st string and LH middle
finger on 3rd string. The fingers never leave the strings--they slide
between all notes even though the slides are not indicated (for clarity).
The highest position indicated requires a little contortion for the middle
finger to reach the 14th fret while the ring finger is on the 13th.
