Sandalwood from Tails

Lisa Loeb

Tune the low E down to C#

The A up to B and

The D up to E

The three chords she plays around with for the

beginning verses and the last part are stripped

down versions of these (she doesn^Òt use all the

strings all the time:)

e---------------------

B---------------------

G-----4-----4----4----

E-----0-----0----0h2--

B-----0-----0----0----

C#----0-----3---------

For the fuller verses, she alternates between playing

the lower 2 or 3 stings and then the other strings of

these chords:

e-----0--------------0---0-------

B-----0-------4------0------4----

G-----4-------4------4---------2-

E-----0-------0------0h2---------

B-----0-------0------0-----------

C#----0-------3------------------

The first two chords are strum upwards (after hitting

the lower strings.) This is important for the flow of

the chorus. The stepping down at the end is very soft.

For the change between the verse and chorus,

the chord is:

e-----0-----

B-----2-----

G-----2-----

E-----0-----

B-----2-----

C#----x-----

But only play the e string after the first change;

the time when she sings "But I'll be the...."

Lastly, there's the riff she uses in that chord to

get back into the verse. This is most pronounced

the last (3rd) time:

e---0------0----0------0---------0--------

B---0h2p0--0----0h2p0--2---------0----4---

G---2------2----2------2---------1----4---

E---0------0----0------0----2----x----0---

B---2------2----2-----------0----x----0---

C#-------------------------------0----3---

...and so on.

Happy playing. This really is a beautiful song.
