Date: Wed, 06 Mar 2002 12:14:23 -0700 From: Joe Martin Subject: m/malkmus_stephen/jenny_and_the_ess-dog.crd This song is number 11 off of Stephen Malkmus' self-titled album w/ The Jicks There is a constant chord progression throughout the verses that goes like this- D- x-5-7-7-x-x- Db/D- x-4-7-7-x-x- B/D- 7-x-7-7-x-x A/D- 5-x-7-7-x-x G- 3-5-5-x-x-x F#/G- 2-5-5-x-x-x- Em- 0-2-2-0-0-0 A- 0-0-2-2-2-0 Then the prechorus thing is an alternating G and D, dig? Check it: D Db/D B/D A/D G F#m/G Jennifer ... Em A He's the ... D Db/D B/D She's 18,... A/D G F#m/G She's a ... Em A Of a ... G D Kiss when ... G D To ... G D And if ... G D They don't ... Em G In joining ... The chords for the next verse is identical until you get to "Let me out.." then you do an A on the 7th fret with a little Chuck Berry alternation going on like so: 5-7-7-x-x-x 5-7-7-x-x-x 5-9-x-x-x-x 5-7-7-x-x-x then you do the D and G respective equivalents A Let me out ... G Let me ... G You got to ... D You ... A Let me ... G Out of ... G Out of here,... A running Then it's the same as the beginning until the very end, there's a little change on the very last chord G Neither one listens... D To ... G The Ess-... D And he sold ... Em G Jenny ... Em G And off ... Em Eb...D Off came ... That's it. I've never seen him live, so I don't know if that's %100 correct. Have a good time. -Joe M.
