"Straight Shooter" by John Phillips

Performed by the Mamas and the Papas on "If You Can Believe Your Eyes =
And Ears" on Dunhill Records, 1966. =20

Riffs:

Don't bother with these if you only have one guitar. Also, of course, =
you'll have to listen to the record to get the timing exactly and =
everything. =20

Play this riff over all the A and A7 chords, except during the bridge

E-----------------------------------
A---0-----0-----0-------------------
D------7-----5-----4-----2----------
G-----------------------------------
B-----------------------------------
E-----------------------------------

Play this riff over all the D7 chords, except during the bridge

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
---0-----0-----0-------------------
------7-----5------4-----2---------
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

Play this riff over all the E7 chords, except during the bridge

---0-----0-----0-------------------
------7-----5-------4----2---------
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

Play this right before the second bridge

--------------------------------------------
-----5h7-------5h7-------5h7--------5h7-----
----------5----------5---------5----------5-
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------

During the bridge (I'm pretty sure these are supposed to be played on a =
bass, but it sounds fine on guitar):

After "just to find what I'm lookin' for" on both bridges

---5---5---0---3---0---3---5--------

Between the words "no" and "more"=20

On the 1st bridge:

E--0---0---3---5---7---5---3--------
A-----------------------------------
D----------------------------0---2

On the 2nd bridge:=20

E--0---0---3---5---7---5---3---5---0

Chords:=20

I think the chords sound better played in the basic bar shapes (A, A7, =
and D7 at the 5th, and E7 at the 7th) as opposed to the open shapes. I =
guess you could also put a capo on the 5th fret and play them as if they =
were open, assuming another guitar is playing the riffs.

Urg... I guess I can't post full lyrics... sorry if things are confusing

1st verse and chorus (all subsequent verses follow the same pattern, and =
all subsequent choruses follow the same pattern except the last)
