Subject: o/osbourne_ozzy/mr_tinkertrain.tab FROM THE ALBUM NO MORE TEARS- "MR. TINKERTRAIN" Epic Records, 1981 -words & music by Ozzy Osborne, Zakk Wylde, Randy Castillo, Michael Inez, John Purdell -tabbed by Evan Gavry I've been looking for a tab of this very cool Ozzy tune for a couple of months and couldn't find one, so I finally just sat down and figured it out. This is my first tab, so be gentle, ok? LEGEND: ^^=vibrato H =hammer-on P =pull-off . =palm mute x =fret hand muting PH=pinch harmonic TR=trill \ =slide down / =slide up B =bend(assume full bend if not noted) Tuned 1/2 step down 6=Eb 5=Ab 4=Db 3=Gb 2=Bb 1=Eb FIG 1. Music box part arranged for guitar (play with a clean tone, chorus. It sounds cool if you turn the speed and depth up a little more on the chorus in this part than you would normally) |---3-2-3---2-3---3-2-3-5-3-2----3-2-3------------6-6-5-3------| |-5-------5-----5--------------5-------5--3-5-3-1--------------| |--------------------------------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------------------------| Repeat 3 times and slow to a stop the fourth time through FIG 2. Overdrive distortion kicks in (it sounds like the chords should change when you let this next part ring, but the change is in the bass part) . . . . . ^^^ |-----------------------------| |-----------------------------| |-----------------------------| |-9----9----9----9-9-8-7-6-5--| |-9----9----9----9-9-8-7-6-5--| |-7----7----7----7-7-6-5-4-3--| Repeat twice FIG 3. ^^^^ |---------------------------| |--------------------| |-------3---3---------------| |----------3----3----| |-------2---2-2---0-2-2(PH)-| |----------2----2-2--| |-2-2-2-------2---0-2-------| |-2-2-2-----------2--| |-2-2-2---------------------| |-2-2-2--------------| |-----3---------------------| |-----3--------------| Repeat 3 times Last time through FIG 4. |-----------------------------| |--------3--------3-------3---| |--------2--------2-------2-2-| |-2--------2--------2-------2-| |-2--------2--------2---------| |-----------------------------| Back to FIG 1. BRIDGE: Only the chords here, perhaps someone could help me out... |-7--5--3--2-| |-7--5--3--2-| |-8--6--4--3-| |-9--7--5--4-| |-9--7--5--4-| |-7--5--3--2-| Listen to the CD (for the timing and because it's an awesome CD) For anyone who doesn't know how to do pinch harmonics (which Zakk uses extensively), I generally strike the note with the nail of the index finger on my pick hand, dragging my thumb slightly over the string after I strike it. It requires a very subtle touch but it produces an awesome sound and I recommend taking the time to get it right because it just sounds so damn cool.
