Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2001 20:34:17 -0500 From: Tim Millard Subject: r/rage_against_the_machine/kick_out_the_jams.tab "Kick Out the Jams" - Rage Against the Machine (originally by the MC5) Taken from the album "Renegades" Tabbed by Tim Millard (millartj@wilkes1.wilkes.edu) Standard tuning (EADGBE) AFAIK, I believe this makes three covers of this great song (excluding live performances). For those of you who are wondering...the other two are Monster Magnet and the Presidents of the United States of America. This is an update from my previous version. As much as I think that this song is in drop D tuning, IMHO, it sounds better (and easier) in standard tuning. So I've made the changes below. Of course, you guitar purists can play it in drop D as well...whatever floats your boat. Intro: E -------------X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X- B -2--2--2-----X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X- G -2--2--2--4--X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X- D -2--2--2--4--X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X- A -0--0--0--2--X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X- E -------------X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X- Verse: E ----------------- B ------0--2-2-2-2- G ------0--2-2-2-2- D -2-2--0--2-2-2-2- A -2-2--x--0-0-0-0- E -0-0-(3)--------- Chorus: E ------------------X-X-X-X-X--------------------------X-X-X-X- B --2---2---2-------X-X-X-X-X---------3-0--3-0-(3)-3~--X-X-X-X- G --2---2---2---4---X-X-X-X-X--7~------------------2~--X-X-X-X- D --2---2---2---4---X-X-X-X-X--7~--2~--------------0~--X-X-X-X- A --0---0---0---2---X-X-X-X-X--5~--2~--------------0~--X-X-X-X- E ------------------X-X-X-X-X------0~------------------X-X-X-X- Solo: Can't Tom Morello go through one song without using some weird effect?!? :) I'm sure there might be wrong parts in here. Hey, what do you expect for free? E ---------------------------------------------------------------- B -17(b)-17(b)-17(b)-17(b)-------------17(b)-17(b)-17(b)-17(b)---- G -16(b)-16(b)-16(b)-16(b)-14-12-------16(b)-16(b)-16(b)-16(b)---- D -------------------------------14-12-------------------------14- A ---------------------------------------------------------------- E ---------------------------------------------------------------- E ---------------------------------------------------------------- B -17(b)-17(b)-17(b)-17(b)-------------17(b)-17(b)-17(b)-17(b)---- G -16(b)-16(b)-16(b)-16(b)-14-12-------16(b)-16(b)-16(b)-16(b)---- D -------------------------------14-12-------------------------14- A ---------------------------------------------------------------- E ---------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- B -------------------------------------------------------------- G -12-11-------9--12-11-----9--12-11-------9--12-11----9---12-9- D -------12--9----------12-----------12--9----------12---9------ A -------------------------------------------------------------- E -------------------------------------------------------------- Right before the final break, instead of the usual E-G-A progression, play this (palm muted)...
