The verse is mostly just a slow burn on the F chord. Here's the
progression. Repeat it twice to complete the song's first (and
only!) verse.:

F F

F F

F G F G

A G

The spacing isn't exactly right, but you get the idea. I'm not
sure about the descending pattern at the end of the verse that
leads into the chorus but it appears to be just the bass. I
don't think the guitar itself descends on the record, but if you
want to follow the bass, the chords are F and E.

Now the chorus:

C F G
C F G
A G

Now for the very tasteful solo. The ps signifies a pick slide.
Use some delay, and some compressor wouldn't hurt either:

----------------------------14----14-15b17r15b17r15b17--
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------
-----------------18-18--18-18-------18-18--18-18--
--ps\\\----15b17--------------15b17---------------
--ps\\\-------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------

-----------15-15b17-15----15----15b17----15----15-18b20--
--------18-------------18----18-------18----18-----------
--15b17--------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------

That's about it. The song starts on a few measures of F, then
the verse, chorus, solo, then the latter part of the verse
progression (F G F G A G), then the chorus twice and you're done!
Truly one of the more underrated classics of the 80's. Enjoy it!
