I find that it sounds just as cool if you play the Fleetwood Mac
version. The only real difference is the style of picking and of course
 Billy's voice.

I do it like this (Travis Pick type style w/ capo 3rd fret) :

 |------------------------------------------------------------------------
 |---1-----------1-----0-----------3-----1-----------1-----0-----------3--
 |---------0-----------------0-----------------2-----------------0--------
 |------2-----------2-----0-----------0-----2-----------2-----0-----------
 |---3--------3--------2--------2--------0--------0--------2--------2-----
 |------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Took my love.........." x as nesessary

Tafter you pluck the Am chord it changes to this for the chorus :

 |---------------------------------------------------------------------0-----
 |---1-----------1-----3-----------3-----3-----------3-----0----------------
 |---------0-----------------0-----------------0-----------------0-------2--
 |------0-----------0-----0-----------0-----0-----------0-----------2--------
 |------------------------------------------------------------2--------------
 |---2--------2--------3--------3--------2--------2--------0-----------------

 		      "I've been frettin' changes..............."

That's basically it. I don't have time to write out the solo right now.
Later. Get back to me if you have a really killer version because I know
that the Pumpkins play it a little different (cooler than the original)
but I haven't seen on ethat sounds right and is a s easy to play as this. :-)

Subject: Landslide by Smashing Pumpkins (yet another...)

Even though this song has been posted about 6 times already, I'm
posting my version because it's considerably different from those
which have appeared. I'm pretty sure the notes are close
to accurate, but this version requires an odd tuning.

FIRST: Tune the high E string (i.e. thinnest string) down to a D.
I did this because I think I can hear the highest note of the first
chord played on two different strings (based on the tone quality).
You don't need to do this, as long as you don't try to play this string.

NEXT: Put a capo on the first fret.

Any feedback on how easy/hard you think this is to play, whether you
think this is a reasonable tuning, etc, is welcome.

Ok this is the best rendition of the Smashing Pumpkins version of
"Landslide" I have so far. This was done at work from memory
without my guitar so I may have messed up the chorus some, but I
think it's correct.

This section repeats throughout much of the verse...

Then the change to the chorus...

I KNOW there has been MANY MANY attempts at this song
and I haven't yet found one that was REALLY good, so
here is my version which comes out REALLY well when
playing along with the CD so I am pretty sure it is all
correct. This song MUST be played with the fingers.

Tuning is as follows:

E,A,D,G#,B#,E

This is just your 2nd and 3rd strings tuned up 1/2
a step. This is not essential, but it makes it
MUCH easier to play, and it is tabbed in that way :)

Main Verse Finger Postions:

E A D G B E I will call these:
-----------
x x 1 2 3 x F.P. 1
-----------
x x x 2 2 1 F.P. 2
-----------
x 3 3 2 x x F.P. 3

These are just the positions you keep ypur fingers,
but individual strings are played from each.

 VERSES
 F.P.1 F.P. 2 F.P. 3 F.P. 2
|---------|-------1----|---------|---|-------1-----|
|-3---3-3-|-2---2----0-|-0-----0-|-0-|-2---2----0--|
|---2-----|---2--------|-----2---|---|---2---------|
|-1-----1-|-0----------|---3-----|-0-|-0-----------|
|---------|------------|-3-------|---|-------------|
|---------|------------|---------|---|-------------|
                                  ^^^
This is just an in between
                           chord change thingy.

Every now and then there is a slighty variation to this
but no new notes are played.

CHORUS

The verse riff is played once after Billy stops singing
the verse where it is joined to the chorus like this:

|---------|-------1----|---------|---------|---------|
|-3---3-3-|-2---2----0-|-0-----0-|-------0-|-------0-|
|---2-----|---2--------|-----2---|-----2---|-----2---|
|-1-----1-|-0----------|---3-----|---3-----|---3-----|
|---------|------------|-3-------|-0-------|-1-------|
|---------|------------|---------|---------|---------|

|---------|------------------------|
|-------0-|------------------------|
|-----2---|------2------2--------2-|
|---3-----|----3----3-----3----3---|
|-0-------|------------------------|
|---------|--3-----3--3------3-----|

I will not TAB out the solo because the ones in the
other TABs were pretty decent. Just do not forget
to add 1 fret to any number on the 2nd and 3rd strings.

E-mail me with comments, improvements, and suggestions.
