Part one is the main riff of the song. Part two is the 'bridge' section. On the album the Edge uses a Fender Stratocaster with the bridge pickup, as can be seen in the movie Ratlle and Hum. I don't know exactly which effects he uses but I play it with a delay (0.40 s), some reverb, compressor and some chorus. If you want to play along with the record, tune down 1/2 step to Eb. ^ = upstroke v = downstroke H = hammer on P = pull off X = rake Intro : E---12-------10---12-------10---- B---12-------10---12-------10---- G--------9-------------9--------- D-------------------------------- A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- Part one (main riff) : v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ E-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- B--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--X---X--|-- G--11--11--11--11--11--11--9---9---11--11--9---9---11--11--X---X--|-- D--9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---X---X--|-- A-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- E-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- repeat 1 x v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ E-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- B--10--10--10--10--10--10--9---9--10--10---9---9--10--10---X---X--|-- G--9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---X---X--|-- D--9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---X---X--|-- A-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- E-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ v ^ E-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- B--10--10--10--10--10--10--9---9--10--10---9---9---10--10--X---X--|-- G--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--X---X--|-- D--9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---X---X--|-- A-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- E-----------------------------------------------------------------|-- Part two : Let all the notes ring E-------------0------------|--------------0----------------------- B--------------------------|-------------------0------------------ G----------8-------8-------|-----------8----------8--------------- D-------9-------------9----|--------7----------------------------- A--------------------------|-------------------------------------- E----7---------------------|-----5-------------------------------- Guitar solo : H H H H H H P E--11---12---14---11---12---14---11---12---14---11---------------- B----------------------------------------------------12----------- G----------------------------------------------------------------- D----------------------------------------------------------------- A----------------------------------------------------------------- E----------------------------------------------------------------- repeat 8x Note. Remember that the speed of the song depends on the delay time. If you don't play in time with the delay the solo is one big mess. On 'Rattle and Hum' the delay time is +/- 0.40 s.
